Eno Benjamin (Running Back)

Sophomore

It’s not very often that your No. 1 and No. 2 running backs move onto the next level in the same year. The Sun Devils, however, are facing that face as they enter the 2018 season.

The only running back on their roster from last year who had double-digit carries last year is Eno Benjamin. Thus, the sophomore is the unquestioned No. 1 heading into Week 1 against UTSA. At practice he always runs with the first-team and coaches have been steadfast in letting folks know he’s the guy.

However, Benjamin has a ton of hungry backs behind him looking to take his job. Right behind him is transfer Isaiah Floyd, a guy Herm Edwards personally recruited and has raved about, sophomore Trelon Smith, and a trio of freshman. Per Sun Devil Source, Floyd has been rotating in with the first-team offense.

It’s a big job to be the top dog at a big-time Division-1 school and Benjamin only has 23 carries under his belt. Does he have what it takes? From what I saw last year, I’d say yes. The dude runs really hard and takes care of the ball.

Personally, I hope Benjamin can shoulder the load. If he can stave off the competition and stay in Herm’s good graces, a 1,000-yard season is definitely possible.
