Nate Burleson of the NFL Network said that the Arizona Cardinals “could shock everybody this year.”

It’s fitting that one of the most underrated morning sports show out there, Good Morning Football on the NFL Network, spoke at length about underrated NFL teams on Tuesday morning. Nate Burleson, an 11-year NFL veteran and big reason why the show is so great, nominated the Arizona Cardinals during the segment.

Speaking to Peter Schrager, another Good Morning Football co-host, Burleson stated that the Cardinals “could shock everybody this year” before listing his reasons why.

Among the reasons why Burleson is so high on Steve Wilks and company is Chandler Jones, Patrick Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, and last but not least, David Johnson.

The rant by Burleson caught the attention of the Cardinals and definitely should put a little extra swagger in the step of Cardinals’ supporters. Burleson is an intelligent guy who has played the game; his opinion holds a lot of weight.

While the guys he listed are all superstars and deserving of the recognition, he left off the most important position: quarterback. Sam Bradford, while not quite Kurt Warner or Carson Palmer yet, could have a Pro Bowl-type season and resurrect his injury-riddled career. After all, he’s a lot better than some of the guys the Cardinals have trotted out there in recent seasons (ie: Drew Stanton, John Skelton, and Ryan Lindley). Talent has never been Bradford’s issue, he can make every throw on the field.

Arizona will play one more preseason game (vs. Denver) before opening their season at home against the Washington Redskins on September 9th.

Good Morning Football can be seen on NFL Network every weekday at 7:00 A.M ET. In addition to Burleson and Schrager, Kay Adams and Kyle Brandt also co-host the show.
