Remember back in March, when Phoenix Suns big man Marcin Gortat suffered a foot injury and a few weeks ago he was still experiencing pain. Well it seems now that Gortat is better and will be able to participate in Eurobasket tournament which happens in September.
According to FIBA.com:
"Now the squad has been heartened by the news that their most important player, Marcin Gortat, is to join Poland on Sunday in Belgium, where they are facing Israel, the hosts and Italy in a warm-up tournament for the EuroBasket in Slovenia. The 2.11m pivot had been with Poland in July but travelled to the United States earlier this month so doctors could examine the metatarsal injury that he suffered in March while playing for the Phoenix Suns. The Polish federation said: “Gortat will on Sunday, 18 August, fly to Belgium where on 17-19 August the Poles will play in a tournament with Israel, the hosts and Italy.”"
So it’s good to see that Gortat is healthy enough to play in international competition and hopefully this will be a great tune up for him before the NBA regular season starts. With Gortat healthy enough to start and Alex Len, who was drafted with the fifth overall pick in June recovering from his surgery, the Suns seem set at the center position. Many people expect when Len is healthy that Gortat could become a trade piece but new Suns GM Ryan McDonough is not ready to let him go.
