It was a chaotic weekend in college football.  A large number of Top 25 teams and a few of them to unranked opponents. Not even the top 5 teams were immune to the upset minded weekend sparking mass chaos and confusion among college football leatherheads.

More from Arizona Wildcats

Cardiac Cats

The Arizona Wildcats provided the match that started the upset inferno burning this weekend by beating the #2 Oregon Ducks on the road 31-24.  In a game billed as offense vs offense, the Wildcats showed a national ESPN audience that they can play defense. The Arizona defense stood strong holding Oregon to just 10 points until the fourth quarter when Heisman Candidate Marcus Mariota tied the game up midway into the final stanza. But Anu Soloman and the cardiac Cats came back again putting together a game winning 71-yard touchdown drive  while eating 5:27 on the clock.

The Arizona Wildcats are no stranger to comeback wins having accomplished the feat in three of their five victories on the season.  The most notable was last week against call when quarterback Anu Soloman uncorked a Hail Mary pass that for the winning score against the Cal Bears.

The Case For Top 10

  • Arizona is 5-0 and is leading the tough PAC 12 south conference. They also hold a 2-0 mark in the conference which is more than you can say for USC, Arizona State, UCLA and Orgeon all of which were ranked above Arizona prior to the weekend.
  • The Wildcats just knocked off #2 who also happens to be a favorite to win the conference they play in.
  • The PAC-12 is arguably the second strongest conference in the country which should give Arizona the edge compared to teams from the Big Ten of Big 12.
  • The Arizona Wildcats narrowly missed the Top 25 last week.  After this week their resume should be a lot stronger.

The Arizona Wildcats deserve to be thrust into the National spotlight with their win over Oregon.  They have done their part by making their case on the field.  Now it up to the voters to do the rest.
