Arizona Cardinals Visit A BeastMode Paradise

Which NFL player would rather not go into his team’s locker room at Half Time? Which Super Bowl winning RB would rather not go to the White House to meet the President? Which NFL player now better known by his nickname, earned said nickname because of an overrated run against a defense that couldn’t tackle that well? Either these are questions that appeared on Jeopardy, or real life ways to describe BeastMode himself Marshawn Lynch?

The Seahawks have some fantastic players on their roster, Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman included. But as a team they pretty much go as Marshawn goes and there seems to be trouble brewing in the Pacific North West. With Percy Harvin already traded to the Jets stories are circulating every week saying BeastMode is done after this season as well.  So what can the Arizona Cardinals expect this weekend in Seattle?

Another defensive battle seems to be the obvious answer, let’s remember for one moment the win at Seattle last year, a win which Seahawks fan will devalue by claiming they were preparing for the PlayOffs and not fully focused on that one.  A win which we turned the ball over several times and still ended up on the winning team and a win that I am sure the Seahawks would love to avenge, not least as we currently have a 3 game lead over them in the division.

A Cardinals win in Week 12 of the season would put them four games ahead of the Seahawks with only 5 games to go. That means that Seattle and for that matter San Francisco would be in one hell of a fight for their PlayOff lives this season, as Detroit, a Green Bay, Dallas and Philadelphia all have better records.

So will the Cardinals repeat their victory from last year?

I am sure we will hear from Sherman about how Drew Stanton will be playing not the number one QB. And when Richard Sherman does commit it might pay for him to realise this is the same Drew Stanton who has already quarterbacked the team to wins over the number one defense in the league and a very competent 49ers defense.  Personally the Seahawks secondary, the fabled “Legion of Boom” against Michael Floyd, John Brown and Larry Fitzgerald is a match up that will be very intriguing, I would live to see Sherman cover John Brown and see how much talking Sherman has left in him after that.

BeastMode will need to be contained and Calais Campbell and the DL will be hitting hard and up for the challenge. I don’t think the Seahawks fans who will be shouting and screaming in a bid to prove their fanhood against some mythical measuring stick, will be celebrating a true BeastMode outing.  Obviously though a real threat in-goal line situations.  Russell Wilson needs to be contained as he will take off from time to time running the option and Larry Foote will need to ensure containment and hit Wilson if he wants to  run outside.

The Seahawks wideouts will not unduly worry the Arizona Cardinals No Fly Zone, this will come down to stout defense and running the ball in all likelihood.  In the games Seattle has lost this season San Diego, Dallas, Kansas City have all run the ball very well and controlled the click and possession. The Arizona Cardinals and Andre Ellington can mimic that success unless Bruce Arians see something else that he feels can be exploited.  Ellington of course has been compared to Jamaal Charles who had a big day last week at Arrowhead against these Seahawks, so it is quite possible Ellington can be used effectively in the run game and as a receiver out the backfield against this team.

The NFL media keeps harping on about signature wins and expecting the Cardinals to come unstuck. So far the Cardinals are leading the league in wins, but the media will probably just predict a Seahawks victory.  This is going to be tight and will mean more to the Seahawks who you could argue have their entire season on the line.  For the Cardinals this game is almost like a Playoff game on the road.  If there is more than 30 combined points in the game I would be surprised If the Cardinals pull the W out in Seattle maybe the experts stop talking, maybe Drew Stanton gets a bit more credit, and just maybe the current Lombardi trophy holders could be dead in the water in terms of their supposed “Sea-Peat”.  You like defensive football, this is probably the game for you, is that BeastMode enough for you!
