The Phoenix Suns kicked off the new year with some fireworks on Friday night by defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 112-96.

Phoenix (19-16) used a second half surge by Gerald Green and Markieff Morris to erase a two-point deficit at the half to the NBA’s worst team in Philadelphia (4-27). The 76ers scored a season-high 59 points in the first half.

Green and Morris each had 21 points a piece to lead all Suns scorers. Eric Bledsoe had the best all-around game for Phoenix however with 17 points, eight assists, and five boards.

Bledsoe’s “Slash Brother” and fellow backcourt partner, Goran Dragic, finished with a double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds), but it wasn’t sufficient enough for him. After the game Dragic said it was, “the ugliest double-double ever”.

Nonetheless, Dragic’s younger brother Zoran got playing time for the first time in his NBA career. This marked the first time in NBA history that two sets of brothers played for the same team in the same game (Morris twins and Dragic brothers).

Late in the game, Zoran Dragic completed a three-point play with an and-one lay-up for his first career points. It was fitting that his first points in his career were assisted by none other than his older brother.

Alex Len, who has been a blocking machine as of late, racked up a career-high six blocks against the Sixers. Len has averaged 7.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, per game while averaging just 21.9 minutes since he entered the starting lineup on December 17. The Suns have gone 7-2 in that stretch.

The Suns will finish their two-game home stand against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday before heading out on the road for four games. The Suns and Raptors will tip-off at 6:00 p.m. MST.
