Cardinals: LaMarr Woodley Inked to Deal

The Arizona Cardinals are signing outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley to a one-year, $870k deal and will likely line-up as a starting edge rusher.

Woodley, 30, has eight years of NFL experience including appearances in 100 career games. He made 81 starts in 94 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers and won the Super Bowl with the Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals in 2009.

The 46th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft has racked up 304 tackles in his NFL career and has added 57 sacks on top of that. He has five interceptions (one pick-six), nine forced fumbles, and 10 fumbles recovered for two touchdowns.

Woodley was a member of the Oakland Raiders last year in his lone year with the Silver and Black. He signed with Oakland as part of a two-year, $12 million deal, but was released in the offseason to clear cap space. He only played in six games and had five total tackles.

From 2008-2011, Woodley sacked the quarterback 44 times in 57 games. He has since fallen off the table, but maybe a new start with the Cardinals and a great supporting cast on the defensive side of the ball will allow him to resurrect his career.
