The Arizona Diamondbacks’ Opening Day third baseman will not be the six-year, $68 million dollar man in Yasmany Tomas. Instead it will be none other than Jake Long.
Long, who played in 37 games for the Diamondbacks in 2014, is set to make his first Opening Day start at the hot corner. In his short stint last year, Long hit four long balls and knocked in 11 runs while maintaing a .230/.263/.373 slash line.
Although his slash line in his 37-game appearance in the big leagues last year wasn’t anything special, he did slash .364/.434/.606 in 25 Spring Training games this year. Expect big things from Lamb this year.
