Bobby Hurley Already Off To Fast Start At ASU
Bobby Hurley has been the head coach at Arizona State for only a couple of weeks and he isn’t wasting any time getting to work.
Having already announced a couple of his assistants to his coaching staff, Hurley is already turning his attention to making additions to his roster.

In a matter of just a few hours, it was reported that two players were added to the ASU roster; Shannon Evans, who played for Hurley at Buffalo, and Obinna Oleka, a junior college transfer out of Maryland.
Evans played at Buffalo in Hurley’s first and only two seasons there. This past season, the 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 15.4 points, 4.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds and was named a second-team All-Mid-American Conference selection.
When Hurley took the job at ASU, Evans immediately left Buffalo. He looked at a few different schools, including Miami, VCU and Old Dominion, but decided to play for his old head coach in Tempe.
Unfortunately, Evans won’t be able to play right away. Because of NCAA transfer rules, the soon to be junior won’t be eligible to play for the Sun Devils until the 2016-2017 season.

Oleka is a nice addition for Hurley as well. He sat out last season at Cecil Community College in North East, Maryland, but in the season before, the forward averaged 25.6 points and 13.6 rebounds at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pounder was recruited heavily coming out of high school. He was committed to Texas, but was released from his letter of intent to the university soon afterwards.
Unlike Evans, Okeka is going to be able to play for the Sun Devils right away where he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining. Given his size and the fact that’s already played in college, he should be able to earn playing time right off the bat.
Hurley and company might not be done there either. Adding another junior college player could be on the horizon.
This is from SunDevilSource.com.
"The Sun Devils are also strongly in contention for Maurice O’Field, a 6-foot-6, 215 pound small forward at Midland Junior College in Midland, Texas, a player who committed to Hurley at Buffalo in March but did not sign a National Letter of Intent."
Bringing these two guys in and possibly adding a third is a great start for Hurley. Whenever you take over a new gig, you want to hit the ground running and the new ASU head man has certainly done that in his first couple of weeks.
In order for Hurley to get this program to that next level, he’s going to have to keep his foot on the gas and not let up.
