The 2015 NBA Playoffs have been ramped up for a month now and we have almost reached the conference finals, but what about the 14 teams that missed the postseason? Well, the NBA Draft Lottery is slated to take place on May 19 to determine the draft order for the 14 non-playoff teams. The NBA Draft will then take place on June 26 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

  • The Minnesota Timberwolves have a 25 percent chance, the best odds, to land the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft Lottery and the New York Knicks have the second best chance with a 19.9 percent shot. The Philadelphia 76ers, 15.6 percent, the Los Angeles Lakers, 11.9 percent, and the Orlando Magic, 8.8 percent round out the top-five teams with the best odds of landing the top pick.

The Phoenix Suns sit at 13th in the lottery with a 0.6 percent, basically a miracle and a half, to land the number one overall pick. This comes a year after the club received the 14th overall pick which they turned into T.J. Warren, out of North Carolina State.

I took it into my own hands to determine who will get the number one overall pick and ran the NBA Draft Lottery Simulator, courtesy of RealGM, 100 times.

Here are the results I was handed…

Even though the New York Knicks have the second-best odds at winning the number one pick, they landed with the number one pick six more times than the Minnesota Timberwolves surprisingly. The 76ers, Lakers, and Magic all fit the bill of landing in the correct order, based on odds. The next big surprise of the simulator was that the Indiana Pacers, who have 0.8 percent odds (10th best), landed the number one pick twice.

And here are the results for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Draft Lottery Simulator…

It seems pretty set in stone that the Phoenix Suns will be picking in the latter parts of the lottery, but who knows… Crazier things have happened.

Right now, Bleacher Report has the Phoenix Suns selecting Cameron Payne, point guard from Murray State. Personally, I can see them passing on the point guard and going after Kansas Small Forward Kelly Oubre, who they have falling to the 15th overall pick.

We will see how the NBA Draft Lottery shakes out on May 19 on ESPN!
