Pitching:

The pitching matchups for this three game slate will be very similar to the previous.

The series opener will feature Robbie Ray (2-2, 1.78 ERA) vs. Tyson Ross (4-7, 3.61 ERA). Ross and Ray faced off against each other last weekend (June 20th).  Ross got the best of Ray and the D-Backs in that matchup. Ross threw his best performance of the season.

Ross pitched a complete game giving up only one run on four hits while tallying nine strikeouts. Ross even hit an RBI triple in that game as well. Ray gave up three earned runs on six hits.  The Padres won that game 8-1.

Game two of the series will be Jeremy Hellickson (5-4, 4.94 ERA) vs. Andrew Cashner (2-9, 4.35 ERA). These pitchers also faced each other in the last series between these teams. Hellickson would prove to be the ace getting the win and giving up two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in six innings of work. The D-Backs won that game 7-2.

The series finale will be Chase Anderson (3-2,3.54 ERA) vs. Odrisamer Despaigne (3-5, 4.83 ERA). Anderson will be looking to get himself back on the right track. His last trip to the mound involved him getting rocked by the Rockies; giving up eight runs on eight hits including three home runs.

Conversely, Despaigne in his last start gave up two runs on five hits in five innings against the Giants but did not get the win. His last decision was a loss to the Athletics when he was shelled for six runs on eight hits.
