Patrick Corbin vs. Max Scherzer

Corbin pitched really well against Seattle on July 29th as he picked up the win pitching six innings, giving up one run on only three hits, walked two and struck out six. Corbin should prove to be a good matchup against the left-handed Nationals superstar Bryce Harper, as left-handed pitchers have an advantage over lefty hitters. However, Harper is hitting a remarkable .320 against lefties this season. But, the power numbers aren’t quite there against lefties as Harper has only hit five home runs against southpaws.

The D-Backs will face their former top-prospect Scherzer for only the second time since being traded away in 2009. While his record isn’t spectacular, sitting at 11-8, Scherzer’s ERA is fantastic at 2.22. He’s coming off of a seven-inning shutout performance against Miami. So far, Scherzer has lived up to that huge contract Washington gave him this past offseason, though sometimes he does not receive enough run support to get wins. This should be a very good pitching matchup.
