Game 1 of the double-header on Tuesday was less of a pitcher’s duel than Monday. Both teams traded blows until the seventh inning when Phil Gosselin hit a three-run homer to give the D-Backs a 6-2 lead. Arizona went on to win the game by the score of 6-4.

The D-Backs were lead offensively by Gosselin and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Goesselin finished the game going 2-4 with a home run, a double and four RBI. Saltalamacchia went 1-3 with a home run and two RBI. Both players accounted for all six runs for the D-Backs.

Three Rockies players hit home runs in a losing effort. DJ LeMahieu, Kyle Parker and Nolan Arenado all hit solo home runs but it was not enough to get the win.

Patrick Corbin was really solid in this game. He went 6 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on seven hits while striking out four. Corbin improved his record to 4-3 and now has an ERA of 3.67. Daniel Hudson earned his third save of the season in this one.
