Herm Edwards and his New York Jets team were the No.5 seed in the 2004 AFC Playoffs. As a wild card team, they had to go on the road and face a division winner. In this case, their opponent was the Drew Brees-led San Diego Chargers.

Playing at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, the Jets overcame an early 7-0 deficit to come back and beat the Chargers in overtime. With time ticking away, New York’s kicker Doug Brien drilled a short field goal to secure a 20-17 victory.
Edwards used a balanced attack on offense, throwing the pass 33 times and running it 28 times. Most importantly, though, his team was masterful at taking care of the rock and in the discipline department. At no point during the game did the offense turn the ball over, and the team only committed 49 yards worth of penalties.
Unfortunately, they lost the following game by the skin of their teeth to Pittsburgh (20-17).
The win was Edwards’ last postseason win in the NFL.
